About Teacher Training...

The Pilates Center Teacher Training Program is one of the most respected, comprehensive, and intensive programs of its kind in the world. Students are taught "classical" Pilates and study every exercise on every piece of equipment in-depth.

The Teacher Training Program requires attendance at both the Spring and Fall Formal Lecture Series. Students will also be required to complete the Internship and pass exams before receiving their certificate of completion. There are 900 total hours required to complete the program. Upon completion, students may sit for the PMA Pilates Certification Examination.

To enroll, prospective students must pass an entrance evaluation exam demonstrating a proficiency in Pilates Level III-IV (strong intermediate) exercises, and be injury free. Acceptance in the program does not guarantee graduation.

In addition, The Teacher Training Program requires:

  • Passing score of 85% or higher on all exams: 3 written exams (covering history, philosophy, anatomy, and pedagogy), 2 performance exams, 2 practical teaching exams
  • Completion of four teaching clinics
  • Completion of reading list
  • Completion of Case Study
  • Completion of Anatomy Coloring Book
  • Completion of personal Pilates journal

Students are expected to complete an average of 20 hours per week toward their Internship, (ie: observing teaching sessions, taking lessons and classes, practice teaching, personal workouts, watching videos and reading required books). Students are strongly encouraged to attend the symposium.

Application Processing
After we review your application, we will contact you to set up a program evaluation. The program evaluation costs $80, due at the time of the evaluation.

Preparatory Program
We offer a preparatory program for those who wish to take the teacher training but have not yet achieved the enrollment prerequisite. This program can be tailored to meet the needs of the individual student. All privates and classes scheduled are charged at the trainee discounted rates. The prep program is designed to assist the prospective teacher trainee meet all the objectives of their entrance evaluation of performing Level 3 reformer/mat.
